HRH Princess Royal visited

Cantref Riding Centre  

Pony Club members at Cantref Adventure Farm & Riding Centre were keen to show their skills & knowledge to their guest, who was impressed at their knowledge & understanding, & abilities in naming items of horse equipment, plaiting ponies' manes & tails & preparing horses for travel to a show.

Princess Ann watched teams of young Pony Club Members take part in a Pony Care competition before presenting the winners with their prizes. Her Royal Highness then learned about the history of the Riding Centre before being introduced to the staff.   The visit closed with the announcement of the results of the competition.

The Princess was then told about the history of the Riding Centre, before being introduced to members of staff.  The visit closed with an announcement of the competition results & the presentation of rosettes & awards to the teams.

The winning team were "surprised" & said they were very proud of themselves as they expected to finish last.  They said "the Princess was so lovely & friendly.  She said "well done" & asked about all the ponies.

Katherine Taylor, Cantref Riding Centre Manager, was "really proud of the members. She said "they all worked very hard & came to sessions for 6 weeks to build on what they learnt at rallies & at camping especially for today, as well as researching & practicing at home".

Cantref Adventure Farm & riding Centre are no strangers to Royal guests, having previously hosted HRH The Prince of Wales & HRH The Earl of Wessex.

Family run & established for over 45 years, Cantref Riding Centre is set in the beautiful surroundings of the Brecon Beacons National Park.  As well as being a Pony Club Centres, offering all the benefits of Pony Club Membership to non-horse owning children, they offer riding lessons, pony trekking, have an adventure farm housing several different species of animals as well as camping & overnight stays.
